One Direction Break Ticket Sales Record In Australia

One Direction have broken yet another record and this time, it’s for their impressive tickets sales in Australia!

As part of their ‘Take Me Home’ tour, our boys performed seven shows at the Allphones Arena in Sydney and it’s those shows that have set a new record for the venue.

They are now the band with the ‘most tickets sold by an artist during a single tour’ at the Allphones Arena. It’s a record which was previously held by heavy metal band Metallica.

Metallica sold 74,244 tickets for their 2010 shows at the arena, but One Direction have now beaten that with 81,542 ticket sales for last week’s concerts.

Take that Metallica!

Guy Ngata, the general manager for Allphones Arena, said: “Epic and extraordinary are words too commonly used these days. One Direction’s run at Allphones Arena was outstanding. 81,542 screaming fans across six days will be something difficult to ever repeat let alone break.

Zayn, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall were awarded golden microphones to celebrate breaking the record and a star commemorating their achievement has been put up in the Sydney Olympic Park.

The boys will perform their final Australian ‘Take Me Home’ show at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne tonight. They will then fly over to Tokyo for the final two shows of the tour.

Are you proud of the boys for breaking another record?
