Norway’s Crazy ‘The Fox’ Song – What Does The Public Say?

It's the song you can't get out of your head and despite being released nearly two months ago, it still seems to be played everywhere you go!

We are of course talking about Ylvis' viral song 'The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)' which has now received over 170 million hits on Youtube. That's impressive but just how successful has the track actually been?

Last week, the catchy electropop single reached number seventeen in the UK charts which is its highest position over here yet. It may climb even further up the chart this week too but we'll have to wait and see.

In Norway, the song made it to the number one spot and it's also enjoyed success it many other countries too.

The comedy duo made it to number two in Finland and peaked at number three in Sweden.

Interestingly, Yvlis didn't even expect the track to be successful. They made it to make people laugh and promote their talk-show 'I kveld med YLVIS' so they're slightly overwhelmed by how popular it's become.

Last night, American talent show 'Dancing With The Stars' even featured a dance performance of 'The Fox.'

Celebrities such as Corbin Bleu, Amber Riley and Brant Daugherty recreated the music video on stage with their dance partners and they even went to the effort of finding fox ears and tails to wear.

The hype doesn't end there though. Forget witches and vampires, this year's Halloween is all about foxes!

It's Halloween tomorrow and according to reports, sales of fox costumes have seen a 40% increase thanks to Ylvis and his strange song. Amazon, BuyCostumes and Spirt Halloween told TMZ that they're completely 'crushing' last year's sales and stocking lots of fox accessories to meet current demand.

One family in Virginia have even set up an amazing Halloween light display which features animated faces miming the lyrics of 'The Fox.' You can check the display out at the bottom of this article!

It's very impressive but we wouldn't like to guess how long it took to create. The family are accepting donations and will kindly be giving all money raised to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

It's definitely fair to say that the track is 'marmite'. Some people love it whereas others really can't stand it.

Either way, 'The Fox' has proven a hit worldwide and it's been very successful.

It's sold lots of records, received over 170 million hits on Youtube, had lots of people talking about it, increased the sales of Halloween costumes and received coverage of various different TV shows.

One thing the fox should be saying is: "thank you!"
