Avril Lavigne Proves She’s Still ‘Rock N Roll’ In New Music Video

Avril Lavigne has released the music video for her brand new single ‘Rock N Roll’ and it’s absolutely crazy!

It's definitely crazy in the best way possible though. At five minutes long, 'Rock N Roll' is Avril’s longest music video to date and this is because it features more acting scenes than any of her previous releases.

Speaking to ET Canada, the 28 year-old singer described the promotional clip for the song as a 'post-apocalyptic rocked out comic book adventure.' We couldn’t have put it better ourselves Avril!

The video starts with the skater girl answering a phone call on her ‘new Sony phone.’ Blatant advertising like this would usually annoy us but because it’s done in such a comical way, we’ll let her off just this once.

On the phone, Avril quotes the lyrics of her hit single ‘Sk8er Boi’ by saying ‘he was a boy, she was a girl.’ Could she make it any more obvious? We loved this little reference and it’s clear that the pop punk princess is having fun.

The track kicks in as soon as the phone call ends and that’s when things really start to get exciting!

Avril appears on screen dressed as an army girl and she’s on a mission to find the fugitive who ‘killed’ rock and roll music. There’s high speed car chases, knife-wielding lobsters, drunk dogs driving cars, bearsharks and an awesome chainsaw guitar. You literally couldn’t make this stuff up!

The guitar solo in the video also pays homage to Guns N’ Roses’ legendary guitarist Slash by mirroring the location used in their music video for ‘November Rain.’ Danica McKellar stars in the video as Avril’s partner crime Winnie Cooper and the pair even share an on-screen kiss. We didn’t expect that.

Billy Zane, who some of you may remember from the award-winning movie Titanic, also makes an appearance.

So who was behind this insane but incredible music video? It was directed by Chris Marrs Piliero who’s previously worked with: Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson and The Wanted.

‘Rock N Roll’ is set for release worldwide on the 27th August but we’ll have to wait a little longer to buy it here in the UK.

It’s one of our favourite songs and music videos by Avril to date and despite facing tough competition from Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, we really hope that it does well in the charts.

'Rock N Roll' will be followed by Avril’s fifth studio album later this year. The collection will be self-titled and it'll also feature Avril’s first track from the record: ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’.

What do you think of Avril's ‘Rock N Roll’ music video?
