X Factor’s Ben Haenow Scores Christmas Number One With Winning Single ‘Something I Need’

This year's X Factor winner Ben Haenow has another title to celebrate this month as his debut single has just become Christmas number one!

Ben's winning single, which is a cover of OneRepublic's 'Something I Need', stormed straight to the top of the charts on Sunday and it beat off tough competition from Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk'.

Here at OnePopz, we're really pleased that Ben's debut single sold so many copies and managed top the charts. We think he was a very worthy X Factor winner and as well as being gorgeous, he seems genuinely lovely.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company, Ben said: "To have even been in the running for Christmas number one against some of the names that were in the race, and then to have actually won is incredible."

"It's an incredible end to my year. I'm gonna go and have a few good drinks with my mates – definitely more than a few good drinks to really celebrate! I'm absolutely shocked, I can't believe it."

Ben's rendition of 'Something I Need' is available here on iTunes and proceeds from the single will go to UK based charity Together for Short Lives. The official music video for the track premiered on Friday and it shows Ben's emotional journey from start to finish so make sure you have plenty of tissues at the ready.

Next year, Ben will head into the studio to work on his debut album and we can't wait to hear it. We just hope that Syco Records will give Ben the time and promotion that he deserves; he has an incredible recording voice.

Are you glad 'Something I Need' is Christmas number one?
