Supernatural Finally Set For UK Revival On E4 In January 2015
After being dropped by Sky Living, Supernatural has found a new UK home and the show's ninth season will finally air on E4 next month!
As massive Supernatural fans ourselves, this is great news and we're glad that E4 have picked up the show. Supernatural was previously in what we'd describe as TV purgatory; it wasn't being broadcast in the UK but it wasn't cancelled either. Now, it'll be accessible to an even wider audience as it'll be available on Freeview too.If season nine proves popular, we're hoping that E4 will also pick up the rights to season 10. Season 10's mid-series finale aired in America earlier this week so we definitely have a bit of catching up to do in the UK.
Misha Collins, who plays everyone's favourite angel Castiel, broke the news by tweeting: "Dearest UK crumpets: Apparently your scare-tactics have worked! Season 9 is coming to E4 in January! #truefact #SupernaturalUK"
It wasn't long before the king of hell Crowley, as played by Mark Sheppard, joined in either. Mark, who's British himself, tweeted: "We're baaaaaack! So excited. UK's E4 brings SPN home!!!! @Dramaon4 @E4Tweets"
The first episode of Supernatural's ninth season will air on E4 at 10pm on the 6th January and it's definitely partly thanks to the endless campaigning from fans; this particular campaign here received a large following in a short space of time. We'd also like to think that Castiel and his army of angels worked some of their magic too.
Even though we've already watched Supernatural's ninth season, we're certainly going to be watching it on E4. It's important to stress that viewing figures are what keeps programmes alive so if we don't want to see Supernatural in a state of limbo again, we need to make sure that we tune in and keep the ratings high.
