Doctor Who 2014 Christmas Special Preview: Last Christmas

The Doctor and Clara have ran into many famous historical figures over time but tonight tops them all; they're going to meet Santa Claus himself!

That's right, Father Christmas will be making an appearance in tonight's Doctor Who Christmas special which is simply titled 'Last Christmas'. The episode will be Peter Capaldi's first festive adventure as The Doctor and despite seemingly saying goodbye for the final time, Jenna Coleman will also be back as Clara Oswald.

Whilst previous Christmas specials have seen The Doctor come face to face with the blood-controlling Sycorax or the Daleks and the Cybermen, this year he'll tackle enemies that remind us slightly of the creatures from Ridley Scott's 'Alien' franchise. We're certainly glad that they weren't under our Christmas tree this morning.

Michael Troughton, the son of 2nd Doctor Patrick Troughton, will also star in the special and the official synopsis released by the BBC for 'Last Christmas' is as follows; "The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!"

Exciting right? 'Last Christmas' will air at 6:15pm on BBC One and it'll have an approximate running time of one hour. We can't wait to watch it with our families tonight; it's become a part of our yearly Christmas tradition.

And, of course, we couldn't end this article without saying two special words: Merry Christmas. We hope you have a fantastic day with your loved ones and get everything that you wanted; we've asked for a real working Tardis.

Will you be watching Doctor Who this Christmas?
