WATCH: Star Wars Returns With Epic New ‘The Force Awakens’ Trailer

Get your lightsabers ready, there's been an awakening! That's right, Star Wars will finally be returning to our cinema screens next year!

The new film is titled 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and it'll be the seventh movie in the Star Wars saga. Now, the first official trailer for the much anticipated blockbuster has risen from the dark side and beamed online.

In the 88-second long teaser, we see: Luke Skywalker pilot the X-Wing, stormtroopers prepare for battle, an awesome red cross-shaped lightsaber and the Millenium Falcon fly over Tattooine. The epic preview has received a great reaction online and it's been viewed nearly 10 million times on Youtube over the weekend.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has been directed by JJ Abrams and it's the first in a new trilogy being produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Chronologically, the story will be set 30 years after the events of 'Return of the Jedi'.

Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew will all be returning to reprise their respective roles whilst new cast members include: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver.

Andy Serkis has also been confirmed as the trailer's narrator and it's believed that he'll be playing a crucial role in the film. More details about Andy's involvement are however being kept under wraps at the moment.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will hit cinema screens across the world on the 18th December 2015. It seems like a long time to wait but we're sure it'll be worth it and there'll be plenty more teasers to come before then.
