REVIEW: The Saturdays Perform Their Greatest Hits On Tour In Manchester

The Saturdays are currently touring the country with their greatest hits and we were lucky enough to see their incredible show in Manchester!

We're slightly gutted that we didn't get to see The Saturdays on a Saturday night but putting that aside, the girls definitely got the audience 'Up' on their feet and they certainly had no 'Issues' with their vocals or choreography.

It's crazy to think that Una, Mollie, Frankie, Vanessa and Rochelle have been in the music industry for over six years now; we still remember their cameo appearance in Hollyoaks right at the beginning of their career.

Anyway, back to the concert, the girls opened the show with their latest single 'What Are You Waiting For?' and it really did take things a whole level up. Everyone turned into party freaks; singing and dancing to every word.

After performing their most recent release, The Saturdays took us back in time with their second ever single 'Up'. It was one of the songs that helped launch them as a girl band so it was refreshing to see that the 2008 anthem still went down a treat six years later. Next, the girls dropped like an '808' and let the boys get to 'Work'.

For their live rendition of 'Work', the group's hot backing dancers took centre stage and stripped off. It undeniably pleased most of the crowd and a special mention has to go out to Aaron Renfree who looked particularly gorgeous. As well as dancing for The Saturdays, Aaron has choreographed many of their dance routines and he also used to be in S Club Juniors with both Frankie and Rochelle. Remember 'One Step Closer'?

'Forever Is Over', 'Higher' and 'Gentleman' were next on the set list before the girls burst into their energetic Comic Relief single 'Just Can't Enough'; a song originally recorded by Depeche Mode. We don't know about you but we certainly can't get enough of The Saturdays; thankfully the gig wasn't even half way through yet.

After several upbeat numbers, the girls slowed things down for 'My Heart Takes Over' and it was a great opportunity for the band to show off their impressive vocals. The powerful track was the second ballad released as an official single by the group and Vanessa joked that it was their coldest music video shoot to date.

'Disco Love' was the tenth song performed by The Saturdays and we'll be honest, we found it hard not to point at Una during the song's catchy chorus. Una recently announced her second pregnancy and the lyrics 'baby, baby, baby' were far too fitting for us to resist. The girls also mixed up 'Disco Love' with an outburst of 'Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears which Mollie clearly loved as a massive Britney fan herself; bless her.

That wasn't the only mash-up either, the girls then sang a medley of some of their favourite songs. The tracks featured in the five minute mix were; '30 Days', 'Wildfire', 'Get Ready, Get Set', 'One Shot', 'Don't Let Me Dance Alone' and 'Missing You'. We're so glad they sang 'One Shot' because that's one of our all time favourites.

Club banger 'Not Giving Up' then followed before The Saturdays thanked everyone for supporting them on their journey; especially those who were at their first ever tour. That could only mean one thing; the girls were getting ready to perform their debut single 'If This Is Love' which they sang flawlessly from start to finish.

'Notorious', 'Walking Through the Desert' and fan favourite 'Ego' were then next before The Saturdays switched things up and stripped things back. Una and Mollie both showcased more of their musical talents by playing the guitar during an awesome acoustic rendition of 'Chasing Lights'; the title track from their debut album.

That wasn't the only treat for fans either. Photos of fans with The Saturdays were displayed up on the big screen during 'Issues'; the final song before the encore. It was a lovely tribute and really did show how much Una, Mollie, Frankie, Vanessa and Rochelle appreciate everyone who's helped them live their dreams.

Sadly, that only two final songs for the encore. The Saturdays marched back onto the stage dressed as firefighters for 'All Fired Up' before going out with a bang by performing their number one hit 'What About Us?'

All in all, we had a great night and we're definitely glad we bought tickets to see The Saturdays in concert again. In a perfect world, we'd have added 'Fall' to the set list as it's our favourite Saturdays song ever but in all honesty, we weren't expecting it. After all, it was only an album track from their first record back in 2008.

'Finest Selection: The Greatest Hits’ by The Saturdays is available now and you can check out their remaining tour dates here. The girls also recently revealed that they'll releasing a Christmas album later this year so we can't wait to hear that. Hopefully there'll be many more records to come from The Saturdays in the future.

On top of all that, band member Frankie will also be appearing on this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing which starts this Friday on BBC One; we're sure the tour has been a great chance to practice her dancing skills.
