Avril Lavigne Explains Last Month’s Awkward Fan Photos: 'My Fans Are Very Frisky'
Remember those awkward photos of Avril Lavigne posing with fans in Brazil last month? We now know why a 'no touching' rule was imposed!
In a new interview with Canadian radio station KiSS 92.5, Avril explained that extra precautions were taken in Brazil due to security breaches there in the past. The 'Here's To Never Growing Up' singer-songwriter said:"My fans are very frisky, actually. So in some countries where we've had security breaches, it's a little delicate because of things that have happened with stuff I probably shouldn't get into. Sometimes other people ruin it for other people. If there's been a certain circumstance prior to a meet and greet, somebody sneaking into a hotel or doing some shady stuff, they (security) have to take extra precautions. I love my fans and I love having the opportunity to meet my fans."
During her Black Star Tour in 2011, Avril was attacked in Brazil. A fan literally ran on stage and grabbed her so it's no wonder she was slightly nervous this time around; you can watch a video of the incident here.
We can understand that Brazilian fans must have been disappointed, especially after paying $400 for a photo with Avril, but can you imagine being in her shoes? She's probably never met most of her fans before and meet and greets are a lot more intimate than live performances so there's more risks involved too.
Thankfully, Avril's more recent meet and greet photos prove that she can and does get close to her fans. She's currently supporting the Backstreet Boys in America and you can view a selection of fan pictures here.
Her latest single 'Hello Kitty' also received tons of negative press so poor Avril hasn't had the best time of it lately. We genuinely love her music here at OnePopz though so she'll always be a favourite of ours.
