REVIEW: Katy Perry Roars In Manchester For Her Amazing Prismatic Tour

We went to see Katy Perry's Prismatic Tour in Manchester last night and it definitely made us feel like it was our 'Birthday'; it was such a treat!

The 'Dark Horse' singer-songwriter performed at the Phones 4u Arena for the second time in her career and once again, she completely rocked the stage. She'll be return to the venue again on the 24th May.

This time, Katy had a massive walkway which filled a large amount of the standing floor and it allowed most fans at the show to see her up close and personal. Fans who paid more money also got to enjoy the concert in the special 'reflection section' which was a special area that Katy paid more attention to.

At first, we weren't sure whether we were going to be impressed by the gig because some of Katy's live performances on TV haven't been the best. Our doubts were all lifted though as soon as the show begun. Despite what you may have seen on TV, Katy really can sing and she's got an incredible voice. She sounded particularly impressive during the stripped-back section which included songs such as 'By the Grace of God.'

Katy entered the stage in a prism which is very fitting considering that's the title of her latest album. Starting the show with a bang, the opening tracks were her number one single 'Roar' and her smash-hit 'Part of Me.'

Like with her music videos, Katy put on a visual masterpiece whilst impressing with her vocals. She had some amazing props and wore stunning costumes which were full of glitz and glam. One of her dresses was huge!

The Egyptian section of the tour was our favourite part and it saw Katy ride a mechanical horse. It was operated in a similar way to the one used for the 'Warhorse' musical and we can imagine it wasn't cheap.

Other parts of the show included the 'Cat-oure' section which saw Katy dressed as a cat in reference to 'Kitty Purry' and her fanbase; the KatyCats. The 'Hyper Neon' section was also pretty cool and in terms of tracks, the 'Throw Back' part of the show was very strong. There's no questioning that a lot of money and effort was put into creating the tour and we really do feel that we got more than value for our money.

There are however a few changes that we'd make to the set list. We'd love to hear 'Thinking Of You' in full and it'd have been great to hear Katy sing: 'Waking Up In Vegas', 'Ur So Gay' and 'Peacock.' They're all hugely popular and the first two were actually singles. Slightly less well-known songs we'd have included on the set-list include: 'Circle The Drain' and 'If You Can Afford Me.' You can see what Katy actually sang here.

As part of her tour, Katy is also alternating between performances of 'Double Rainbow' and 'Ghost.' The track chosen for Manchester was 'Double Rainbow' which we love but we would have preferred the latter personally. We're sure some fans will disagree with us when it comes to that though and that's probably partly why Katy has been singing a mixture of the two. It must be super hard to put together a set list.

The Prismatic Tour came to an explosive end. For the encore, Katy sang her hugely successful single 'Firework' and she was joined by fireworks and special effects on stage. Her dress was also designed with flames on and it truly was a perfect way to end what was a brilliant night.

We'd give Katy's Prismatic Tour four out of five stars. The set-list is the one thing that stopped us giving the concert a full five stars but that's always going to be something that different fans will disagree on. Unfortunately, Katy can't sing all of her songs so she can't please everyone completely.

Katy will be performing at the Echo Arena in Liverpool tonight and she'll continue to tour the UK for the rest of the month. Following this, the tour will head to: North America and Australia.
