Avril Lavigne Releases Cute Music Video For New Single 'Hello Kitty'

Konnichiwa! Our favourite skater girl Avril Lavigne has turned into a Japanese pop princess for her brand new ‘Hello Kitty’ music video!

We’re used to hearing upbeat pop/rock tracks and emotional ballads from the 29 year old singer-songwriter but Avril’s new single sees her take a whole different direction.

That’s right; she delves into the world of electronic dance music and J-Pop with her new song which is being released exclusively as a single in Asia. We reckon it’ll be a massive hit over there!

Asia loves Avril and it's the type of music that fills the charts in Japan. While we weren’t too sure what we thought of ‘Hello Kitty’ at first, we can’t stop hitting that replay button now so it's definitely grown on us.

The music video sees Avril rock out in a candy store and dance around the streets of Japan. A cool stop-motion effect is also used in certain scenes giving Avril’s dance moves an almost robotic feel.

We’re slightly disappointed that there was no actual appearance from the official Hello Kitty mascot itself but we’re guessing that’ll have been down to legal and copyright issues.

After nearly 12 years in the music industry, it’s no surprise that Avril is experimenting with fresh new sounds.

We welcome the change here at OnePopz and while we love ‘Hello Kitty’, we hope that Avril will continue to release more tracks similar to ‘Sk8er Boi’ and ‘When You’re Gone’ in the future.

Proving her versatility as an artist, Avril’s next single elsewhere in the world will be the stunning ballad ‘Give You What You Like.’ You can listen to the track here and a music video for it will follow soon.

Both songs feature on Avril Lavigne’s incredible self-titled album which was released last year!
