A Beginner’s Guide To Supernatural – Scary Just Got Sexy!
Supernatural is one of our favourite TV shows ever and we seriously recommend that you watch it; you'll be hooked!
The show's ninth season is currently airing in the United States and it will begin in the UK this summer.A spin-off show 'Supernatural: Bloodlines' has also been commissioned so what better time is there than now to put together a beginner's guide to Supernatural. Don't worry, we won't give away too many spoilers!
As you can imagine, the programme contains stories of the supernatural. What's so interesting about it though is that a lot of the episodes are actually based on real life myths and folklore.
We don't know about you but to us; that makes it all the more scary!
You can expect lots of scares involving: ghosts, vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, angels and demons.
If that isn't enough to convince you to start watching it then just check out the main cast. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki who play main characters Sam and Dean Winchester are absolutely gorgeous.
Check out some background information about Supernatural below...
Basic Plot
When his wife is murdered in a very suspicious and supernatural fire, John Winchester is out the get revenge on the demon responsible for her death. He spends years looking for the evil spirit.
Then, all of a sudden, he seems to disappear. His two sons Sam and Dean don't hear a single word from him.
This is where the series starts. We see Sam and Dean on a hunt to find their father and kill any malevolent creatures along the way. Demons aren't always the enemy though and some angels aren't always good!
Supernatural is full of plot twists and story arcs which are definitely rewarding when they come to a close.
Allies & Enemies
The Winchester brothers aren't on their journey alone, they're accompanied by both friends and foes!
Some of their friends make ultimate sacrifices for them whilst others may not be as friendly as they seem.
We love the fact that Supernatural plays on real life fears, there's tons of enemies who've sent chills down our spines. Killer clowns and the dreaded Bloody Mary are just two of the terrifying villains in the series.
Whatever you do, make sure you don't say Bloody Mary's name three times in front of a mirror!
The fact that Supernatural is currently on its ninth season really does go to show how amazing it actually is!
It's rare that a show will be commissioned over and over again but Supernatural is still going strong today. If you're into horror films then you'll love that each episode is literally like a mini movie in itself.
There's a great mixture of comedy and drama in the programme too. One minute you'll be in tears laughing at Sam or Dean and the next; you'll be hiding behind the sofa screaming in fear!
There's not enough words in the dictionary to describe how much we love Supernatural but you can check out a spoiler-free trailer for the show's first season below...
