Peter Capaldi Signs Up For Doctor Who Series 9 – But Will Jenna Coleman Join Him?
Rejoice Whovians! Peter Capaldi has confirmed that he'll be reprising his role as The Doctor for the ninth series of Doctor Who next year!
As with any actor portraying such a famous role, Peter Capaldi's incarnation of The Doctor has received mixed reviews from the public but we'd say that most are generally positive. Here at OnePopz, we think Peter had a great first series and we love that he showcased a slightly darker version of everyone's favourite Time Lord.Speaking at a charity event earlier this week, Peter discussed his time on the show and mentioned whether it'll be a part of his future. He said; "At the end of the day, the job is all-consuming, it’s a factory – a Doctor Who factory! I get to run up and down corridors, escape through ventilation shafts and fight Daleks."
"But it is every day for eight months and you can get tired; you keep trying to come up with ideas. And sometimes you run out of ideas. If I did have an ambition it would be not to regenerate for a while."
Jenna Coleman's future on the show is however still up in the air. There's been no official word that she'll return as Clara for Doctor Who's ninth series but she will star in this year's Christmas special. We're thrilled she's going to be back but also quite surprised; Clara's farewell seemed pretty final at the end of 'Death In Heaven'.
Doctor Who will return next month for this year's Christmas special and we can't wait to watch it; it's always one of our Christmas day highlights. You can watch Children In Need's exclusive preview of the episode here.
