The Voice UK Round-Up – Who Won This Year’s Final Battle Rounds?

The fights intensified on The Voice UK over the weekend as the final set of this year's battle rounds took place!

These follow on from the first set of battle rounds which you can read all about here.

With 12 acts already through to the knockout stage, there were 12 more places to battle for and Kylie was the only coach left with the ability to steal. She said she was looking for 'the one with something magic'!

Amazingly, we actually agreed with all of the coach's decisions apart from one!
The final set of battle rounds kicked off with Team Ricky...

Chris Royal VS Jamie Lovatt

Song: 'Rolling In The Deep' - Adele

To start the show, it was a battle of power and emotion. Soul came face to face with rock and roll when Chris and Jamie took to the stage for their battle. It was a strong performance and the pair sounded really good singing together. Ricky decided to save Chris though because of his amazing portrayal of emotion in the song.

Our verdict: right decision.

Rachael O'Connor VS Amelia O'Connell

Song - 'Holy Grail' - Jay Z ft. Justin Timberlake

Rachael and Amelia put their own spin on Jay Z and Justin Timberlake's 'Holy Grail' for the second battle. They both gave super emotional performances and it was a fragile duet which stunned both us and the audience. It's crazy to think that both girls are only 16 but in the end, Rachael won Kylie's vote.

Our verdict: right decision.

Kiki De Ville VS James Byron

Song: 'Because The Night' - Patti Smith Group

This was definitely a memorable battle on the show! James and Kiki De Ville are both very big characters but James struggled with his nerves and confidence during the piano rehearsals. Kiki has 25 years of performing experience but it was James' unique vocals and appearance which helped him win the battle.

Our verdict: right decision

Melissa VS Vicky Jones

Song: 'Just Give Me A Reason' - P!nk ft. Nate Ruess

The fourth round saw a massive Amy Winehouse fan battle against Danny from McFly's sister, we are of course talking about Melissa and Vicky Jones! They were originally set to sing 'Keep Me Hanging On' by the Supremes but it was later changed by Tom Jones to P!nk's 'Just Give Me A Reason'. Melissa's pure voice took her through to the knockout stages and persuaded Tom to keep her in the competition.

Our verdict: right decision.

Max Murphy VS Myles Evans

Song: 'Eleanor Rigby' - The Beatles

Judo champion Max fought trainee solicitor Myles for a place in the knockout stages in the fifth battle round. During the piano rehearsals, Max was super confident whilst Myles was struggling to come out of his shell. They both played guitars and put on an amazing show but Max's twangy way of singing won Ricky's vote.

Our verdict: right decision.

Sophie May VS Cherri Prince

Song: 'The Lovecats' - The Cure

It was half way through the show so what better time could there be than now to have a battle of Jazz music? Sophie and Cherri both gave their impersonations of 'scat' singing and put on a great performance but Will chose Sophie May as the winner due to her 'sophiestacated' way of singing. We loved Will's play on words!

Our verdict: right decision.

Jamie Johnson VS Joe Keegan

Song: 'Counting Stars' - One Republic

This was one of the hardest battles to watch! Jamie and Joe had become such good friends over the show that they genuinely didn't want to compete against each other in the battle round. Their friendship contributed to an amazing duet though and Kylie decided to save James due to his stronger vocals. There were lots of tears shed in the studio and we nearly needed to reach for some tissues ourselves!

Our verdict: right decision.

Femi Santiago VS Iesher Haughton

Song: 'Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)' - The Stylistics

We've got to say that Iesher and Femi's battle round was our favourite of the series! They're both so talented and we could easily see both of them in the charts one day. Whilst Iesher struggled showing the emotions in her face during piano rehearsals, she came out fighting and won Will's vote. It wasn't long before Kylie decided to save Femi though and she 'stole' him after he gave her a rather amazing serenade.

Our verdict: right decision.

Georgia VS Leverne Scott-Roberts

Song: '22' - Taylor Swift

Georgia and Leverne's battle was definitely an interesting one! The pair really didn't get along during the rehearsals and this made it easier for both of them to compete against each other. It was a great performance but in the end, Tom saved Georgia for her quirky vocals and ability to connect to the song.

Our verdict: right decision.

Jade Mayjean Peters VS Gemyni

Song: 'Baby One More Time' - Britney Spears

Kylie's final pairing was a battle between twin duo Gemyni and Jade. Understandably, Jade was quite scared about facing two singers in the battle but her natural confidence and smoky vocals shone through in the performance. Kyle decided to save Jade which we're glad about because she's one of our favourites!

Our verdict: right decision.

Elesha Paul Moses VS Gary Poole

Song: 'Caught Up' - Usher

Tom's final battle saw Gary and Elesha battle it out on stage. Elesha had a slight advantage because she'd already competed in the show's battle rounds last year as part of the duo Nu-tarna. This advantage didn't help her in the end though and Tom saved Gary due to his amazing vocal 'run' when performing the track.

Our verdict: wrong decision.

Jazz Bates Chambers VS Luciee Marie Closier

Song: 'Grenade' - Bruno Mars

They say that you should save the best until last and this final battle round was definitely one of this year's best. It was a competition between 'super cute and pop' Luciee and 'fiery and soulful' Jazz. Both singers were feisty with amazing voices but when it came to voting, Ricky decided to save Jazz. It was a tough choice and all of the other coaches admitted that they wish they had the ability to 'steal' Luciee so she could stay.

Our verdict: right decision.

These winners will join the champions of the first set of battle rounds to compete in the 'knockout' stage.

Each coach will have to take their teams down from seven acts to just three, that's a pretty tough decision!

We can't wait to see who will make the live shows. The Voice UK will continue on both Saturday and Sunday.

Do you agree with the decisions made by the coaches in the final set of battle rounds? Who were your favourites?
